An Unexpected Birth {Wichita Birth Photographer}

One of my best friends gave birth to her third baby and I just happened to be in town for a visit. I had the honor of attending a very intense, emotional baby welcoming.

Well, K didn't make it to her final on Wednesday! I was called to her home at around 4am this morning and she gave birth to her first son, H, at 6:41am. He was born in the water surrounded by loving family and some wonderful midwives. Here are a few of my most favorite shots, enjoy!

Fun With Friends!

I'm on call for my December client who is due tomorrow but really, REALLY needs to hold off until Thursday because her big final is on Tuesday! You can do it K! Hold that baby in! ;-)

My back up photographer Elizabeth is not just a fabulous photographer she's also one of my best friends. Tonight I met her gorgeous family at the park and we played and had fun and got some fabulous shots. I thought I'd share one. :-)

January Special!

I turned away a couple of potential clients in January because I was planning a vacation. Now it's been canceled and I have nothing to do that month! So what do I do? I run a special!!!! :D

FBP Goes Wedding!

Since my November client gave birth in October and my December client is happily still baking, November was wide open for me! So I agreed to take on a very small, intimate wedding. It was a beautiful beginning to a new family. Here's a sneak peek for T and R. Congratulations you two! I was honored to be a part of your special day.

A Mama in Waiting

I don't normally do maternity sessions but I'm open to the idea for birth clients. This is K and her daughter M. They are just beautiful, beautiful girls. I cannot wait for the birth in early December! These are a few sneak peeks for her with my old editing style. I'm taking a sort of seminar this coming week and I'm very excited to be learning some new tricks before editing her full session.

A BUSY Day Here at First Breath!

I got called to a birth this morning at 7am. Second time Mom, wonderful labor, and after a very smooth delivery she and her husband welcomed a chubby 9.5 pounder into the world.

Shortly thereafter another one of my clients arrived in heavy labor at the birth center! You could have knocked me over with a feather! But if you're going to have two clients due 2 weeks apart in labor at the same time having them choose the same birth center is ideal! ;-)

Once Babe was born, Meredith only had eyes for her husband and this photographer who rarely sheds a tear at births was wiping them away....

And on to Paula! What an amazing and awe inspiring birth this was. Her poise and grace under intense, fast progressing first time labor blew us all away. She didn't feel like she was coping well but I promise you she was a goddess. Smiling even in the throws of pushing! Amazing.

I hope everyone is settling in to their new families tonight.

I love my job. It seriously rocks.

Home Birth Goes Hospital

This sweet friend of mine had one of the wildest rides I've ever been on in the birth world. It ended up in a hospital transport from home but she still managed to pull off an unmedicated, vaginal birth. It was beautiful.

Born at Home

Beautiful home birth of 7 pound 7 ounce baby boy! My first birth after a long hiatus and I was feeling a touch rusty. Overall though, I feel good about the finished product. Mom is a fellow birth photographer and it was such an honor to be in attendance.
